Biography
Dr. Carrera-Justiz became a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 2010 after completing a residency in neurology and neurosurgery at Tufts University. Her areas of interest include surgical management of brain tumors and advanced imaging techniques of the nervous system. A Miami native, Dr. Carrera-Justiz completed her undergraduate training at the University of Virginia and received her doctorate in veterinary medicine from the University of Florida in 2005. She then completed a rotating small animal internship at the University of Missouri and a neurology specialty internship at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital in San Diego.
Dr. Carrera-Justiz now calls LA home with her two dogs, Mojito and Ernie. Mojito is a dachshund that was rescued in Missouri and has now traveled across the USA! Ernie is an LA native who was brought to Dr. Carrera as a patient, but she fell in love with his special needs and his happy personality. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, distance running and traveling.
