Abdominal ultrasonography-abdominocentesis and cystocentesis
Abdominocentesis is a procedure in which a needle is used to remove fluid from the abdomen. We use our ultrasound to guide where to place the needle, in order to reach the pocket of fluid that we wish to remove.
Cystocentesis is a similar procedure in which a needle is used to draw urine from the bladder. We use the ultrasound to guide our needle into the bladder. This allows collection of urine without the possibility of gathering bacteria from the lower urinary track.
