AUTOIMMUNE SKIN DISEASE MANAGEMENT
Our veterinary dermatology team, at our Lynnwood, WA location, routinely diagnoses and manages autoimmune skin diseases including pemphigus, lupus, perianal fistulas and many more. These disorders should be suspected if pets have blisters, ulcers, scaling or crusts on the skin, nose, lips, feet, or other mucous membranes. In addition, changes may be seen with the nails, hair coat, or if their skin has lost or changed its pigment. Skin biopsies are required to confirm the diagnosis and successful treatment requires the usage of medication to suppress the immune system. Pets with autoimmune skin disease require frequent medication adjustment, and they must be carefully monitored in order to avoid medication side effects.
