  • Technician Manager

    Teresa Johnson, LVT
    Veterinary Tech School: Northern Virginia Community College

    Teresa began her veterinary career nearly 20 years ago as a veterinary kennel assistant in Northern Virginia. She received her Associate in Applied Science Degree in Veterinary Technology from Northern Virginia Community College. In the summer of 1999 she and her daughter, Renee, moved to Seattle for a new adventure and shortly after began her career with us back when we were Animal Emergency and Referral Center.

    As she started her career at the Veterinary Specialty Center she worked her way through the clinic as an overnight ER technician, to surgery technician, to now recently stepping into the role as Technician Team Manager. In this position Teresa is able to use her experience and natural given talent of being an encourager and mentor.

    In Teresa's spare time, she volunteers as a youth leader at her church. She also loves spending time with her daughter and friends, along with pet sitting and baby sitting. VSC's two blood donor kitties retired back in '03 and they decided they would love to live the good life at Teresa's house'¦. Boy, were they right.
     


  • Licensed Veterinary Technician

    Amanda A., LVT, VTS ECC
    Veterinary Tech School: Bel-Rea Institute
    School: University of Montana, Zoology

    Amanda Adams, LVT, VTS ECC, grew up in Maine and then moved west, attending the University of Montana, graduating with a Bachelor's of Science in Zoology in 1999. She then moved to Denver and worked at a specialty and referral practice, moving her way up from receptionist to LVT. She spent 5 years in Denver, graduating in 2001 from Bel-Rea Institute, with an associate's in applied science in Animal Technology.

    Amanda moved to the Seattle area in September of 2003 and came to work at VSC, where she is the critical care and dialysis technician. She obtained her VTS in Emergency and Critical Care in September of 2006.

    In her spare time, Amanda enjoys spending time with her husband, Wes, scuba diving, photography and spoiling their dog, Owen and their cat, Jet.
     


  • Licensed Veterinary Technician

    Alison D., LVT
    Veterinary Tech School: Brigham Young University

    Alison Deputy, BS, LVT, graduated from Brigham Young University in 1992 with a bachelor's degree in Veterinary Technology. While at BYU, she worked as a large animal veterinary assistant, equine reproduction technician, earned the Faculty Leadership Award and Scholarship, and served as Student Chapter President of the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America.

    After graduating, Alison worked as an LVT in general practice for 12 years before moving to a career in veterinary surgery and anesthesia. From 2005-2008, she served as Lead Surgical Technician at Animal Critical Care and Emergency Services in Seattle, Washington, before moving to VCA Veterinary Specialty Center of Seattle.

    Alison currently serves as a Surgical/Neurology Technician at VCA VSC and is working towards obtaining her VTS-Anesthesia certification. Alison's passions include critical patient anesthesia, pain management, expanding continuing education opportunities for veterinary technicians and assistants, and teaching. She also loves her two fat cats and all border collies.
     


  • Licensed Veterinary Technician

    Cherlyn W., LVT
    Veterinary Tech School: Pierce College

    Cherlyn W. currently works as a surgery technician at Veterinary Specialty Center of Seattle. She has loved and cared for animals since she was little. As a child, she dreamed of working with animals. She worked as a veterinary assistant with an equine veterinarian during high school and with one of her professors in a small animal day practice during college. Cherlyn received her associate's degree in veterinary technology from Pierce College of Tacoma in 1992. She became a licensed veterinary technician in June 1992. Over the years, Cherlyn has worked in many aspects of veterinary medicine; general practice, emergency/critical care, dermatology and surgery. She finds anesthesia to be very fulfilling and challenging. When not at work, Cherlyn is a very busy single mom of three great kids as well as a cat named Gallagher and a lab/pit named Clyde.


  • Licensed Veterinary Technician

    Jessica W., LVT VTS (Neurology)
    School: University of Washington, Zoology

    Jessica Weber, LVT, VTS Neurology, earned her B.S. in Zoology from the University of Washington in 2000. During her time at the University, she worked as a lab animal assistant and volunteered at the Woodland Park Zoo. After graduation she began working as a veterinary assistant at the Northeast Veterinary Hospital in Seattle. In 2005 Jessica joined the Veterinary Specialty Center as an emergency department assistant.

    In 2006 she completed requirements to take the Veterinary Technician National Exam, and became a Licensed Veterinary Technician. Later that year she joined the neurology department at VSC. In 2011 Jessica successfully passed the board exam to become a VTS in the area of Neurology.

    Since joining the neurology department, Jessica has learned about different imaging and diagnostic modalities such as MRI and EMG, and has expanded her knowledge of veterinary technology.

    Her veterinary interests include MRI scans and maintenance, seizure/epilepsy control, and pain management. In 2008 she helped start an email list for clients with epileptic dogs.

    When she is not at work, Jessica enjoys reading, working with computers and playing with her rescued pointer mix, Colby.


  • Veterinary Assistant

    Claire W.

    Claire joined the VCA VSC Radiology Department in the summer of 2009.
    After working at a local day practice she discovered her strong
    passion and technical ability for taking radiographs. Claire enjoys
    working at VSC because of all the amazing diagnostic imaging
    modalities the hospital has, including Digital Radiographs and
    Computed Tomography. "The best part of my job is having the tools and
    the ability to take amazing images to better help the doctors and
    owners.' Claire recently married her wonderful husband, David. They
    currently reside in Seattle, WA. A graduate of Oregon State
    University with a B.S. in Animal Science, Claire also enjoys cheering
    for the Beavers with her dog, Charlie. During her free time she trains
    and rides horses.

Emergency Care

VCA Veterinary Specialty Center of Seattle is here for you and your pet 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. No matter what the time of day or night we have a veterinarian and vet techs here to answer your questions and provide you and your pet with care in an emergency situation. 

Our emergency service is designed to be an extension of the services provided by your primary care veterinarian. When your vet is not available, our doctors and nursing staff are here to provide the emergency care your pet needs. In addition to emergency services, we are able to provide intensive care for critically ill pets that have been referred by primary care veterinarians.

Many patients are treated as outpatients. Should your pet require ongoing care, we may recommend that you return to your primary care veterinarian when the day practice opens. For unstable patients in need of further evaluation, arrangements can be made for continued hospitalization and when needed, evaluation by one of our specialists.
