Dr. Steve Steinberg conceived of and opened one of the first totally referral based private specialty veterinary hospitals in the United States in 1977. That hospital has evolved into VCA Veterinary Referral Associates where Dr. Steinberg was appointed Chief of Staff in 2011.
Dr. Steinberg received his Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Sciences from the Pennsylvania State University, College Park, Pennsylvania. He went on to graduate from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in Philadelphia, 1973 and was boarded in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 1980.
In 1994, Dr. H. Steven Steinberg realized a long-time creative dream with the advent of his international web-based registry of veterinary brain tumors. In 2001, the site was incorporated into the Vet Cancer Registry that flourishes today with Dr. Steinberg as coordinator.
Dr. Steinberg has a keen interest in the management and long-term goals of his patients. Consequently, he has become active in the canine rehabilitation community and has successfully completed the available courses at the Canine Rehabilitation Institute in Wellington, Florida. He is a certified canine rehabilitation therapist, and is currently teaching an advanced course on the rehabilitation of canine neurological patients at CRI.
Steve is an avid nature enthusiast and does sea kayaking, bicycling, backpacking, camping, fishing and cross-country skiing in his down time. He also built his own home, by the lake, including carpentry, masonry, electrical and plumbing work.
