Holistic medicine includes a broad array of treatment modalities that aim to alleviate the patient's existing symptoms and the underlying cause of those symptoms.
At SouthPaws, we offer:
Acupuncture
Used in China for several thousand years to treat humans and animals, Acupuncture involves inserting very fine sterile needles at specific points to stimulate the body's healing powers. Acupuncture treatment does not require sedation.
Chinese Herbal Medicine
Chinese Herbal Medicine uses multiple herbs in combinations that work synergistically to promote health. We have found Chinese Herbal Medicine quite helpful for many chronic illnesses. The formulas we use today have been in use in China for centuries, some even for 1,000 years or more!
Homeopathy
Developed about 200 years ago by a German physician, Homeopathy uses naturally occurring substances in potentized form to treat a broad spectrum of illnesses and disorders.
We use these modalities separately and in combination to treat a variety of problems, including:
- Mild to severe mobility impairment
- Spinal injuries and disc disease
- Pain due to injury or arthritis
- Skin problems, allergies
- Kidney disease
- Pancreatitis
- Cushing's disease
- Diabetes
- Addison's disease
- Canine hypothyroidism
- Urinary problems
- Digestive issues
- Separation anxiety
- Vaccinosis
- Seizures
Holistic treatment works best when it is started early in an illness, rather than as a last resort. It can work well in more advanced cases, but may take longer to show a good result in those cases.
