Storz Endoscopy Unit
Storz Endoscopy Unit
VCA Southern Maryland Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center utilizes the Storz Encoscopy Unit for endoscopyic diagnostics. An endoscope is a long thin tube with a light and a camera at the end. Doctors can insert this down the esophagus to study the digestive tract, or down the trachea to study the breathing system. It can be useful for diagnosing tumors, ulcers, inflammation or other irregularities. During "key-hole" surgery, such as removing gall stones, surgeons can use an endoscope to help guide them to the target area.
