VCA Southern Maryland Veterinary Referral Center is very pleased to announce that Rebecca Spivack, VMD has joined our hospital's veterinary team as a residency-trained veterinary surgeon as of July 25, 2011.

Dr. Spivack received a B.A. in biology in 2002 and a V.M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 2006. After graduation, she went on to complete a one-year rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Animal Medical Center in New York City, followed by a one-year specialty surgical internship at the VCA Veterinary Specialty Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. In the summer of 2008, Dr. Spivack stayed on at the VCA Veterinary Specialty Center to complete a three-year residency program in small animal surgery.

Although Dr. Spivack is looking forward to bringing all aspects of her surgical training to the SMVRC, her passion lies in soft tissue surgery, with a particular interest in wound management and skin reconstruction. Dr. Spivack is a native of Falls Church, Virginia, and is excited by the prospect of her career bringing her back to the Washington, DC metro area.

The staff at VCA Southern Maryland Veterinary Referral Center is delighted to have Dr. Spivack's considerable talent and expertise at our hospital. Please join us in welcoming her.
