Emergency Technician Julie Becker joined the staff of VCA Southern Maryland Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center in April 2009. Prior to becoming a staff member at the hospital, she was employed at a local general veterinary practice for six years while attending college at the University of Maryland in College Park. She graduated from UMD in 2007 with a Bachelor's degree in Animal Science. After receiving her degree, Julie decided to challenge herself further by entering into emergency medicine. She is very happy to be a part of SMVREC '" she enjoys working with patients and values the experience she is acquiring at the hospital.

Julie was born and raised in LaPlata, Maryland and still resides there with her husband Derrick. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, reading, watching movies and spending time with her three dogs Kayla (English Springer), Zara (Briard), and Storm (Australian Shepard).
