VCA Southern Maryland Veterinary Referral Center

Administration

  • Hospital Manager

    Monica Pelto

Hospital Manager Monica Pelto was born in Richland, Washington and has always had a soft spot in her heart for all animals. Married in 1997 to her husband Jeff; they welcomed daughter Tanna and son RJ in 1998 & 1999. Monica has always had pets within the home. The current fur kids consist of 2 dogs (Belle & Tuck) and 3 cats (Shadow, Koda & Ash). Monica always knew she wanted to have a job in the veterinary field but did not know where until she learned of 24 hour emergency pet care and has been a part of it since. She started as a nurse in a general practice for several years and shortly after joined the team at VCA Southpaws where she spent the past 12 years as either an emergency veterinary technician or ER practice manager. Monica recently accepted the position as Hospital Manager here at SMVRC and is excited about the potential she has within the hospital. She is actively working with her entire team towards their goal of SMVRC becoming the leader in quality medicine and remaining a staple in the Southern Maryland veterinary community; as well as supporting the local veterinary hospitals in the area and finding ways in which they can give back to the community.
