Report: Market for pet care on the rise

Most owners want high quality veterinary care and supplies for their pets, and the desire to provide the best of the best is on the rise, according to a new market research report.
The report, U.S. Pet Market Outlook 2012-2013, is a compilation of a number of studies showing that pet shoppers are seeking expensive specialty products for their companion animals despite the great recession. Natural, organic and eco-friendly products are lining the shopping carts of pet owners across the nation as they seek what is best for their beloved pets.
Additionally, owners seem to want to provide the best medications and veterinary care to their cats, dogs and other pets. Medications for everything from feline leukemia to diabetes in dogs have also been selling alongside supplements and pet insurance. The market trends seem to reflect a growing desire of American pet owners to give their pets the most comfortable lives possible.
Packaged Facts, a consumer goods marketing research company, said this tendency to treat pets as members of the family is not just a trend, but rather a longer-term societal shift.
