Biography
Dr. William Greentree obtained his DVM degree from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986. He became Board Certified by the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists in 1998, and was the staff ophthalmologist at Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in Boston from 2001-2004 and at MedVet and Associates in Columbus, Ohio from 1997-2000. Immediately following graduation from veterinary college, Dr. Greentree worked as a small animal general practitioner in Toledo, Ohio; he also served as President of the Toledo Veterinary Medical Association from 1989-1990. He went on to complete an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine from 1990-1991. He held the positions of Assistant Clinical Professor of Small Animal Medicine at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine from 1991-1992, and Veterinary Poison Information Specialist at the University's National Animal Poison Control Center from 1992-1993. He was awarded an Intramural Research Fellowship by the National Institutes of Health, and from 1993-1994 he investigated novel treatments for diabetic retinopathy at the National Eye Institute's Laboratory of Ocular Therapeutics in Washington DC. From there he completed his Residency in Comparative Veterinary Ophthalmology at Iowa State University's College of Veterinary Medicine, where he served as Chief Resident from 1996-1997.
Dr. Greentree is an Adjunct Professor of Comparative Ophthalmology at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, and Consulting Veterinary Ophthalmologist at Zoo New England in Boston and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Fisheries Science Center in Woods Hole. He is available to see referral appointments Monday through Thursday each week, and welcomes phone consultations from referring veterinarians; he has a special interest in the medical and surgical treatment of corneal disease, glaucoma and cataracts.
