Overnight Care Services
'Overnight Care' is a service provided to referring veterinary practices in an effort to provide continuity of care for your patients from the time your practice closes until it opens again. Our hospital's nursing staff will monitor your stable patients and administer medications according to your treatment plan.
The following guidelines should be used when referring a patient for 'Overnight Care Services':
Your patient must be clinically stable which means:
- Only routine uncomplicated post-operative monitoring is required OR,
- The animal has clinically stable disease, already diagnosed by you, which requires simple physiological monitoring (TPR) overnight,
- The patient is not in need of laboratory tests while in our care (all lab work will be charged for separately, if requested)
- Your patient will be transferred BACK to you for further care or discharge. We will not discharge your patient other than for return to your care.
Please note that VCA Shoreline Veterinary Referral & Emergency Center provides Overnight Care Services as an extension of your practice care. Should your patient require treatments, lab work or other procedures not listed here, they will not qualify for this service. However, they can be transferred as a hospital case after speaking with one of our hospital's staff veterinarians.
To arrange for Overnight Care Services for your patient, please download and complete the Overnight Care Treatment Sheet below and call our hospital at 203-929-8600 for further instructions prior to transferring your patient.
