Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a medical imaging technology that enables our Sacramento Veterinary Referral Center specialists to obtain highly refined images of a patient's interior body without surgery. By using strong magnets and impulses of radio waves, this technique produces superior images of organs and soft tissues. MRI is particularly useful for imaging a pet's brain and spine, as well as the soft tissue of joints and the interior structure of bones. The entire body is visible with this technique enabling veterinarians to quickly establish a diagnosis and treatment protocol for patients.
