Endodontics
Our veterinarian whose practice is limited to dentistry and oral surgery performs root canal therapy procedures as part of our extensive Dentistry Services. A root canal is a dental surgery where the pulp of the tooth is cleaned out, the space is disinfected and then filled with an inert material to prevent pain and infection. The pulp is the fleshy, vascular and sensitive inner portion of the tooth and if exposed, can cause severe pain to your pet. Teeth may require a root canal if they have been fractured or affected by severe cavities. Root canal therapy is often preferred over extraction as it is a less painful and invasive procedure and has the benefit of maintaining normal function of the remaining tooth. Please ask our veterinary dentistry staff about root canal therapy and if it may be right for your pet.
