Laparoscopy, thoracoscopy, and arthroscopy allow minimally invasive imaging of the abdomen, chest, and joints (respectively). Using the scope (a small, flexible camera) we can perform microsurgery and take multiple tissue biopsies without needing to make a large incision. Recovery from minimally invasive surgery is often much quicker and many surgeries can be done on an outpatient basis.
