The Angels at VCA Dekalb
-Sharon Chapman from Galveston, TX
Pet Name: CourageI just wanted to express sincere and heartfelt gratitude to the docs and staff. I was visiting my daughter from Texas for Christmas, when tragedy happened to me. On Christmas Even my beloved boy Courage slipped under a fence and in front of my eyes as i was trying to get him to come back, was hit by a car and taken from me. I was a lost soul a long way from home along a road when an kind soul helped me gather myself get my daughter and find our way to your hospital. The staff was tender, kind and patient with my grief. They treated me and my puppy with love. Being Christmas Eve the fact that you were there was a blessing all of its own, but no one there was any less loving for having to work that night. In fact I think the girl at the front desk was even more kind, knowing that she was filling a real need in my life. They let me stay with my boy as long as I wanted and sensitively explained my options. I would never wish my experience on anyone, but I am eternally grateful that when it did happen that you all were there to help me in my time of need far from home and my own vet. Thank you!

Angels among us found right here at VCA
-Woodrow McCall from Tucker, GA
Pet Name: Woodrow McCall MinorUpon returning home early on a Sarurday afternoon I found our family cat (Woodrow) very sick. He had been acting different for a few days, however, I chalked it up to our recent move and all the stress surrounding the move. As I thought back over the last few days and nights other things we standing out too. Now he was so sick he literally could not walk and very weak. My regular vet had already closed and I called VCA-DeKalb and spoke with Laura. Just the sound of her understanding voice gave me the stength to gather up Woodrow and make it to the clinic. Upon arrival we supplied needed info and then saw Stephanie, our vet tech. Woodrow responded well to her and she was able to examine him without incident while we also exchanged information. Then we met Dr. Kero. Right away I felt we were in good hands and although I was still very concerned I finally was able to take a deep breath. Woodrow was then further examined, x-rayed and started on an I.V. fluid. His diagnosis - obstination. After several attempts by the doctor and team to get him some relief, he was put [under anesthesia] and Dr. Kero was successful in removal of large portion of waste and also breaking up amount left. Dr. Kero kept me informed (exactly) as she said she would regarding his condition. Woodrow spent the night and recovered until the next afternoon when we picked him up. I honestly do not believe Woodrow would have made it if I had waited until Monday morning. Words are simply empty when one's heart is so filled with gratitude. You are all truly "angels among us" to give so freely to those who cannot speak for themselves. Woodrow continues to feel better with every day and we look forward to a full recovery. Merry Christmas and wishes for a very Happy New Year!

Amazing Staff
-Katie Day from Doraville, GA
Pet Name: MilesA few months ago our cat, Miles, was hit by a car. We ended up at the clinic and had to face the difficult decision of putting him to sleep. The veterinary staff and everyone working that night were so so compassionate and gave us all the time we needed. I am truly gratefully for their assistance and the great care they gave to a very feisty cat. It really meant a lot to us have him treated so well in the end. Thanks!

Mimi Dugan
-Shannon Dugan from Tucker, GA
Pet Name: MimiDr. Hughes and Staff,
I wanted to thank you so much for taking such good care of my pug "Mimi" a few weeks ago. Her eye has healed wonderfully and Dr. Winston said that it is the best possible scenario for an eye that has popped out. The nerve is still intact and she has some vision in that eye but we don't know how much. Her pupil does react but it is much slower and usually is larger than her good eye. She looks great and is back to her old self, just as if it never happened.
I cannot thank you enough for your wonderful, compassionate care. Also, I truly appreciate the amount of time you took to explain everything to me.
We are so blessed and thankful that you were all on duty that night.
Thank you again and god bless you.
Sincerely,
Shannon and Mimi -
Thank you!

Pet Name: TuckerRecently, we were faced with the difficult decision of putting our boxer, Tucker, down at your clinic. While this was a very hard decision, your staff made the situation much easier. I wanted to take a moment and express my gratitude to the entire staff. From the receptionist to the techs to the two ER doctors we came into contact with, everyone was very understanding and responsive.
I felt much better knowing that the DGAEC staff was going to take the best care of Tucker when we made the decision to put him down. I have no doubt that the entire staff treated Tucker with compassion and respect.
Tucker was part of our family and always will be and I wanted to thank the staff for the professionalism, courtesy, and compassion that we experienced.
While I hope the majority of your patients do not have to make the decision we did, I will highly recommend your clinic to anyone I know with a pet.
Again, thank you for your caring and professionalism. -
