  • Thank you so much

    -Terri from Topsham, ME
    Pet Name: Penny

I'm visiting here from Maine with my empty nest "babies", my 2 chihuahuas. All by myself over the weekend, my Penny broke one of her nails and was bleeding profusely from it. Panicked, I found VCA online and called about them seeing her. The lady on the phone could not have been nicer, trying to calm me down and give me the best directions to get there. Once there, the vet and the vet tech were just wonderful. I'm very emotional when my babies are in pain and they took great care of her. She's walking around with a giant bandage clubfoot (chihuahua legs are so tiny) for the next 24 hours, but she's her normal self again. I am so grateful that VCA was there, willing to take care of my out of state dog, and so kind to an over emotional pet mom. Thank you so so much.

  • Great Care During An Emotional Time

    -Marvin Hightower from Lithonia, GA
    Pet Name: Clifford

Pet Image After a long life and prolonged illness, we recently had the painful task of letting our beloved Westie, Clifford, go. Dr. Beverly Hughes and Vet Assistant Stephanie Payne provided us great support during this emotional time and we will be forever thankful. I was impressed to the point I wrote about the experience in my Customer Service Blog. http://hightowerenterprisesview.blogspot.com/ I highly recommend their facility and again thank them for taking care of our and Clifford's needs.

  • The Angels at VCA Dekalb

    -Sharon Chapman from Galveston, TX
    Pet Name: Courage

I just wanted to express sincere and heartfelt gratitude to the docs and staff. I was visiting my daughter from Texas for Christmas, when tragedy happened to me. On Christmas Even my beloved boy Courage slipped under a fence and in front of my eyes as i was trying to get him to come back, was hit by a car and taken from me. I was a lost soul a long way from home along a road when an kind soul helped me gather myself get my daughter and find our way to your hospital. The staff was tender, kind and patient with my grief. They treated me and my puppy with love. Being Christmas Eve the fact that you were there was a blessing all of its own, but no one there was any less loving for having to work that night. In fact I think the girl at the front desk was even more kind, knowing that she was filling a real need in my life. They let me stay with my boy as long as I wanted and sensitively explained my options. I would never wish my experience on anyone, but I am eternally grateful that when it did happen that you all were there to help me in my time of need far from home and my own vet. Thank you!

  • Angels among us found right here at VCA

    -Woodrow McCall from Tucker, GA
    Pet Name: Woodrow McCall Minor

Upon returning home early on a Sarurday afternoon I found our family cat (Woodrow) very sick. He had been acting different for a few days, however, I chalked it up to our recent move and all the stress surrounding the move. As I thought back over the last few days and nights other things we standing out too. Now he was so sick he literally could not walk and very weak. My regular vet had already closed and I called VCA-DeKalb and spoke with Laura. Just the sound of her understanding voice gave me the stength to gather up Woodrow and make it to the clinic. Upon arrival we supplied needed info and then saw Stephanie, our vet tech. Woodrow responded well to her and she was able to examine him without incident while we also exchanged information. Then we met Dr. Kero. Right away I felt we were in good hands and although I was still very concerned I finally was able to take a deep breath. Woodrow was then further examined, x-rayed and started on an I.V. fluid. His diagnosis - obstination. After several attempts by the doctor and team to get him some relief, he was put [under anesthesia] and Dr. Kero was successful in removal of large portion of waste and also breaking up amount left. Dr. Kero kept me informed (exactly) as she said she would regarding his condition. Woodrow spent the night and recovered until the next afternoon when we picked him up. I honestly do not believe Woodrow would have made it if I had waited until Monday morning. Words are simply empty when one's heart is so filled with gratitude. You are all truly "angels among us" to give so freely to those who cannot speak for themselves. Woodrow continues to feel better with every day and we look forward to a full recovery. Merry Christmas and wishes for a very Happy New Year!

  • Mimi Dugan

    -Shannon Dugan from Tucker, GA
    Pet Name: Mimi

    Dr. Hughes and Staff,

I wanted to thank you so much for taking such good care of my pug "Mimi" a few weeks ago. Her eye has healed wonderfully and Dr. Winston said that it is the best possible scenario for an eye that has popped out. The nerve is still intact and she has some vision in that eye but we don't know how much. Her pupil does react but it is much slower and usually is larger than her good eye. She looks great and is back to her old self, just as if it never happened.

I cannot thank you enough for your wonderful, compassionate care. Also, I truly appreciate the amount of time you took to explain everything to me.

We are so blessed and thankful that you were all on duty that night.

Thank you again and god bless you.

    Sincerely,
    Shannon and Mimi

  • A HUGE Thank You

    -Jessica from Winder, GA
    Pet Name: George

Early Sunday morning, I woke up to find my special needs cat, George, bleeding profusely from his surgical site after being neutered a week prior. When we arrived at VCA DeKalb Gwinnett, we were greeted promptly and, after asking me for permission and without any wait time whatsoever, George was taken to the back so that the veterinarian, Dr. Kero, could examine him. Very shortly thereafter, they invited me to come to the back so that Dr. Kero could show me the source of the bleeding. Less than an hour later, we were leaving the parking lot and George's bleeding was completely stopped. Dr. Kero not only provided George with prompt and excellent care, but she was VERY sweet to him and even cleaned all of the blood out of his fur before we left. Bryan, one of the assistants, did a great job handling George so that Dr. Kero could stop his bleeding; George was so at ease and wasn't stressed at all. Stephanie, another assistant, was kind enough to clean George's carrier out for me after he had urinated in it during the car ride to the hospital. Despite the stressful situation, I was blown away by the prompt and wonderful medical care that George received and also by the kindness and compassion shown to us both from everyone involved. A HUGE thanks to these amazing and special people. I hope to never have to visit an emergency hospital again, but if I do, it will be VCA DeKalb Gwinnett without a doubt.

  • Amazing Staff

    -Katie Day from Doraville, GA
    Pet Name: Miles

A few months ago our cat, Miles, was hit by a car. We ended up at the clinic and had to face the difficult decision of putting him to sleep. The veterinary staff and everyone working that night were so so compassionate and gave us all the time we needed. I am truly gratefully for their assistance and the great care they gave to a very feisty cat. It really meant a lot to us have him treated so well in the end. Thanks!

  • Thank you

    -S. Simpson from Atlanta, GA
    Pet Name: Tucker

Recently, we were faced with the difficult decision of putting our boxer, Tucker, down at your clinic. While this was a very hard decision, your staff made the situation much easier. I wanted to take a moment and express my gratitude to the entire staff. From the receptionist to the techs to the two ER doctors we came into contact with, everyone was very understanding and responsive.

I felt much better knowing that the DGAEC staff was going to take the best care of Tucker when we made the decision to put him down. I have no doubt that the entire staff treated Tucker with compassion and respect.

Tucker was part of our family and always will be and I wanted to thank the staff for the professionalism, courtesy, and compassion that we experienced.

While I hope the majority of your patients do not have to make the decision we did, I will highly recommend your clinic to anyone I know with a pet.

Again, thank you for your caring and professionalism.

  • Isis Wattigney

-Isis Wattingley from Stone Mountain, GA
    Pet Name: Isis

Pet Image Dear Dr. Davis and staff,

Want to let you know that Isis is doing great. She's happy dogs again, very active and loving. Her skin is almost completely healed and she's seems to be feeling fine. Attached is a picture of her yesterday playing in the back yard with her stuffed bunny.

Thank you for your tender loving and superb care. I have no regrets deciding to let you try to save her. You did!

    Much love from us both,

    Wendy and Isis
