Beverly Hughes, DVM, Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Beverly Hughes was born in Kings Mountain, North Carolina and raised on a dairy farm. She attended North Carolina State University graduating with a degree in Zoology in 1976. Dr. Hughes then attended Auburn School of Veterinary Medicine graduating in 1981. After graduation, she spent several years as an associate doctor at a private practice in Charlotte, North Carolina. In 1987, Dr. Hughes moved to the Atlanta area with her husband, Ray, and daughter, Rachel , when she began practicing emergency medicine at VCA Dekalb Gwinnett Animal Emergency Hospital. Ten years later, her husband was transferred, and they moved back to North Carolina where she still lives with her husband and four rescue dogs, Fiddy, Fergie, Bailey and Ace. Dr. Hughes commutes from North Carolina every week. Her numerous years of experience practicing emergency medicine has helped to increase her knowledge and ability in handling emergency situations. Dr. Hughes also enjoys communication with both clients and referring veterinarians to ensure the best possible care for all pets. For Dr. Hughes and many other people, our pets are members of our family.
In her free time, Dr. Hughes and her husband like to spend time together with their daughter and son-in-law, in Florida. She also loves hiking, reading, and playing with her 4 dogs.
“I enjoy the ability to practice quality medicine in a caring compassionate atmosphere that encourages helping to improve the health and happiness of our pets and their owners.”
