She has completed research investigating respiratory complications in post-operative and ICU patients and has also investigated the use of anticoagulant or “blood thinner” therapies in dogs and cats. Her additional clinical interests include diagnosis and treatment of pneumonia, thromboembolic disease, treatment of shock, and any critical complications of surgical or medical conditions. Dr. Alwood loves the New England seasons and the charm of the New England towns and history. She values the access to cultural and educational resources in the greater Western Massachusetts region while having access to the cities of Boston and NYC. She loves being able to expose her daughter to the agricultural communities and feels that is important that her daughter understands where her food “comes from.” She shares a home in Longmeadow with her spouse and daughter as well as two dogs-including a rambunctious Golden Retriever. She enjoys cooking, time with friends and travel to anywhere coastal.
