Biography
Dr. Orr received his DVM from Atlantic Veterinary College, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada in 2004. He completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery the next year at Ontario Veterinary College, and then went into private practice until October 2007. Dr. Orr did his residency at Ontario Veterinary College and received board certification in 2010. During his three year residency, Dr. Orr led a large research project studying arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC) which most commonly affects Boxer dogs. Through his research project, he collaborated with the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto on the investigation of the genetics of this disease. This part of the project was aimed at identifying the genes responsible in both Boxer dogs and people afflicted with the disease. During his residency he also received advanced training in interventional cardiology, routinely performing pacemaker implantations, closing PDAs, and ballooning stenotic heart valves. Dr. Orr offers complete cardiac work-ups, echocardiograms, blood pressure monitoring, EKG, holter monitoring and minimally invasive cardiac surgery.
