    Kristen Aberly

    Kristen joined VCA Arboretum View in April 2005.  She worked as a technician in the Emergency and Critical Care Department for 6 years before transitioning to the Internal Medicine and Nuclear Medicine Departments in 2011.  Kristen lives with her black lab, Cheyenne and her cat, Snickle Fritz.  Cheyenne is a registered therapy dog for Edward's Hospital and a retired AVAH blood donor.

    Leslie Benedetti

    Leslie is originally from Ohio and moved to the Chicao area after receiving her Associates in Science degree.  She attended The Vet Tech Institute at Fox College where she received her Associates degree in Veterinary Technology.  She has several years experience in the field.  Lesile joined VCA Arboretum View and works in GP, GP surgery, specialty surgery, and oncology.  Leslie has two cats and a dog.  In her free time she enjoys cooking, reading, and cuddling with her animals!

    Lisa Cummings

    Lisa graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science from the University of Illinois in Urbana- Champaign in 1996.  She has been working in veterinary practices since 1996 and joined VCA Arboretum View Animal Hospital full time in February of 2005. She completed an externship at VCA Arboretum View in 2002 while in Vet tech school at Joliet Junior College.  She graduated from Joliet Junior College with an Associate Degree in Applied Science and became a Certified Veterinary Technician in 2004.  Lisa currently works in the neurology department and has a passion for diagnostic imaging modalities.  She shares her home with her husband, Joel, and her English Cocker Spaniels, Lacey and Spencer.  Outside of work Lisa enjoys traveling, yoga, gardening, vegetarian cooking and drawing.

    Thomas Dietzel

    Tom Dietzel attended the Veterinary Technician program of St. Petersburg College while working in a general practice hospital in Florida. After graduating in 2007 Tom took an interest in emergency and critical care joining a specialty center in Sugarland, Texas. Tom attained three years emergency experience before joining the team at VCA Arboretum View Animal Hospital in 2011.

    Elizabeth Gundlach

    Liz graduated from the Vet Tech Institute with an AAS in Veterinary Technology in 2010.  She worked in small animal general practice for 2 years prior to coming to VCA Arboretum View in 2012.  Liz has been working in ER/ICU since then.   In her off time, Liz enjoys running, reading, and spending time with her husband and their 4 dogs Annie, Murphy, Lucy, and Bean.

    Bernadette Mazur

    Bernadette graduated from Joliet Junior College in 2005 and received her AAS degree in Veterinary Medical Technology. Bernadette joined VCA Arboretum View in 2007 and works in the General Practice Department. In her spare time when not working, she enjoys running, biking, cooking, and baking.

    Jennifer Moran

    Jenny graduated from Purdue University with a AAS in Veterinary Technology in 1995.  She worked in small animal general practice for 14 years.  Jenny then began working at VCA specialty hospitals in 2010 and has been working in VCA Arboretum View's ER/ICU since then. Jenny enjoys spending time with her family and 2 dogs in her off time.

    Elizabeth Norberg

    Elizabeth Norberg has been in the veterinary field since 1997 and has always been passionate about animals. She graduated from Parkland College with an Associate Degree in Applied Science and became a Certified Veterinary Technician in 2004. While living in Champaign-Urbana during and after school, she was a veterinary technician at the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center, and developed an interest in animal toxicology. She also holds a Bachelor's of Science degree in Biology from nearby Benedictine University. Elizabeth joined VCA Arboretum View in 2007, becoming a part of the Internal Medicine team. After the birth of her daughter, Olivia in 2009 she became a member of the emergency service. Elizabeth has interests in critical care nursing, emergency surgery, and the human-animal bond. She has also been an advocate of veterinary technology continuing education for many years, speaking at conferences and at VCA Arboretum View.
    In her free time she enjoys drawing, painting, cycling and running and also sings in a local chorus. Elizabeth lives with her daughter and husband Keith, a veterinarian. They share their home with two Beagle mixes, Ronin and Jasmine; but the boss is Trapper, the cat.

    Nicole Przybyla

    Nicole graduated from The Vet Tech Institute in Tinley Park and received five years experience in the field before coming to VCA Arboretum View Animal Hospital and working in the specialty surgery department.  Nicole loves working with animals as well as the medical side of the job.  In Nicole's free time she likes to spend time with her husband, family, and friends (human and animals)!  Nicole also enjoys cooking and baking.  Nicole has two dogs, Coop and Snoopy.

    Shanna Rayburn

    Shanna Rayburn graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Veterinary Technology. After graduation she worked in the Purdue Veterinary Teaching Hospital for a year as a rotating technician in the departments of Behavior, the Intensive Care Unit, the Emergency Center, and the Large Animal Hospital. She joined the VCA team as the Behavior Technician working with Dr. Sara Bennett.
    She is experienced working with different types of behavioral problems and disorders in dogs and cats and has experience in implementing individualized behavior modification plans as well as teaching owners to apply these techniques at home. 
    Outside of the clinic Shanna enjoys reading, spending time with her dog and cat, and going back to Indiana to visit family.

    Betty Wood

    Betty obtained her CVT in 1982 from Parkland College. She has worked at several general practice animal hospitals and emergency veterinary clinics over the past 30 years. Betty first came to VCA Arboretum View in 2000 and worked as the technician supervisor as well as in oncology, specialty surgery, and internal medicine.

    In 2003 she left to spend more time with her family. Not able to stay away from the profession entirely, she did volunteer work at local shelters and and reared numerous litters of orphaned kittens. In 2011 Betty returned to VCA Arboretum View and joined the Integrative Medicine and Rehabilitation Department. Wanting to provide more expert care to her patients Betty attended the Healing Oasis Wellness Center in Wisconsin and became a Certified Veterinary Massage and Rehabilitation Therapist in June 2012.

    Betty shares her home with sons Scott, and Ethan. They are owned by 4 cats; Ditto, Rowan, Spenser and Sparta. In her spare time Betty works on home renovation projects and enjoys watching movies, reading and being outdoors.

    Denise Young

    Denise graduated from Parkland College with an AAS degree in Veterinary Technology in 1988.  Before joining the surgery team at VCA Arboretum View, Denise  worked in an emergency clinic, a research facility  and a zoo animal hospital.  Denise has become a valuable member of our neurology service. 

    Denise lives in Westmont with her husband, Mike, and her Shepherd mix, Logan (who hates having his picture taken!), who she adopted from Chicago Animal Care and Control at a Chicago Wolves hockey game in 2004!   Denise has a 19 year old step son, Tyler and a 17 year old step daughter, Ashley. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, photography, reading, walking her dog and spending time with her friends and family.

    Katie Borowiak

    Katie Borowiak graduated from Parkland College with an Associates Degree in Applied Science as a Certified Veterinary Technician.  Throughout her career as a CVT, she has been able to explore the many aspects of veterinary medicine including small animal medicine, anesthesia and surgery.  Her passion for anesthesia and surgery began early in her career as she spent a majority of her time as a surgical technician.  She continued her career as an instructor at the Vet Tech Institute where she enjoyed mentoring students through her skills, knowledge and experience.   Because Katie had such a passion for surgery, she pursued a career at VCA Arboretum View in 2010 as a Specialty Surgery Technician.
    In her free time she enjoys gardening, shopping and spending time with her family.  She currently owns a Pit Bull mix named Stella.  Katie has a soft spot for Pit Bulls and enjoys being an advocate for the breed.

    Charlie Dellamorte

    Charlie has worked at VCA Arboretum View since 2003. She lives with her husband and daughter and has too many pets--2 dogs, 3 cats, and a guinea pig. Charlie likes to backpack and be outdoors when she is not working.

    Randi French

    Randi joined VCA Arboretum View in June 2007.  She has several years of experience with animal care from 1998-2004.  From 2005-2007 she lived in rural Wisconsin, as a farm hand with a small dairy farm, caring for the cows, calves and horses.  Randi moved back to the Chicago area with her chocolate Lab, Cooper be closer to her family.

    Heather Hall

    Heather has been a member of the VCA Arboretum View Animal Hospital team since September 2006.  She has worked in multiple departments including Oncology, ER/ICU, Internal Medicine, and General Practice.  Although she enjoys working in all the different departments, her main area of interest is oncology.  When not at work Heather enjoys spending time with family and friends, enjoying the great outdoors and catching a White Sox game.

    Jennifer Isom

    Jen joined VC Arboretum View in September 2001.  She currently works in Oncology, and General Practice.  Jen is also the Blood Care Coordinator for the VCA Arboretum View Blood Donor Program.  When at home, she enjoys spending time with her family, her saltwater fish tank and walking her dog.

    Nicole Maxstadt

    Nicole started as an veterinary assistant in August of 1996 at a clinic just outside Chicago. She then worked at a clinic in the far western suburbs until joining VCA Arboretum View in February of 2006.  She has worked in several departments including ER/ICU, Dermatology and is now a primary tech in the General Practice department. 
    She enjoys cooking, baking, home improvements and all types of music including going to live concerts.  She also enjoys spending time with her furry and scaly friends at home.  She has three cats, Frankie, Vito and Fredo (yes, she's Italian) and Brutus the Bearded dragon and Monty the Ball Python.

    Susan Spriet

    Susan has worked at the hospital in our emergency department since July of 2004.  Working mostly in the ICU, she especially enjoys caring for critical patients.  She has been an animal lover her entire life, but developed a profound passion to help sick pets after she lost her Boxer, "Rex", to cancer in 2003.  When not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their pets, as well as doing home improvment projects and spending lots of time outdoors!  Pictured here is her dog, "Wiley", a German Shepherd/Australian Shepherd mix.  Wiley is a blood donor and sometimes comes to work to help sick pets too!
