The Derm Team is fabulous
-Eva from New York, NY
Pet Name: CloudyCloudy is a wonderful mutt who was brought into the ASPCA by a Humane Law Enforcement team on 10/24/2006. His skin was in horrendous shape. The ASPCA vets worked on him and he became adoptable 3 months later. He still suffers from allergies and has very itchy skin. Our wonderful local vet threw his hands up in despair, when, after 5 months, he couldn't cure Cloudy's ear infection. He recommended Dr. Jeanne Budgin, and we came to see Dr. Budgin and her team. It's now 16 months since we first went to see Dr. Budgin, and Cloudy's ears are great! We continue the regimen she suggested, and he's doing very well. We love to come see the derm team. They CARE about Cloudy and me, and they are always so welcoming. They are amazing, and they work as a TEAM. I would recommend them highly for dermatology and allergy concerns.

Our little Puppy Walks Again
-Adele and Dennis from Rock Hill, NY
Pet Name: SushiWords cannot adequately express the wonderful experience we had with Doctors Joseph and Berg at Animal Specialty Center in Yonkers, N.Y. Our 4 ½ year old Bichon needed emergency spinal surgery. These amazing doctors were highly recommended by our local vet who has not only referred many patients to them, but has used them for her own dogs. Even though we had to travel almost 3 hours round trip to these doctors, we would have traveled a far greater distance.
They did an MRI and determined that our dog needed spinal surgery. Given the fact that the situation was dire and time was of the essence, they were able to fit her into their busy schedule. From beginning to end, this amazing group showed the expertise, compassion, and care that most humans only wish that they could receive. Their support team which included Connie, and Diana and especially Emily, was so compassionate and supportive.
Our sweet little Sushi went from losing use of her hind legs and almost being permanently paralyzed to walking again after only a week. Now, almost one month later, she is back to her old self. This would never have been possible without this remarkable team of professionals.

Thank you, ASC, for all you did
-Josh and Lisa Davidson from Hartsdale, NY
Pet Name: Jesse
If you are reading this review, it is because you love your pet and want to do whatever is humanly possible to give him/her the best care. My dog, Jesse, had to be put to rest last week, but not before the wonderful, caring, heartwarming and beautiful people at Animal Specialty Center did all they could to give him quality of life for a couple of months after the saintly Dr. Joseph diagnosed Jesse with cancer. From that first blow-to-the-gut moment that Dr. Joseph showed us the MRI, to the very end when Dr. Joseph himself put Jesse to rest, Jesse received the genuine love and attention that all pets deserve. Aside from his extensive knowledge and truly inspiring care for Jesse, Dr. Joseph is unique in that no matter when I called the hospital, no matter what he was doing, he ALWAYS picked up the phone to speak with us. You can't imagine the support this provides, knowing that a doctor will take your call every time. While I hope that you'll never have to solicit an animal emergency center, it's comforting to know that, if your pet does need the attention that your traditional vet cannot provide, Dr. Joseph and his incredible staff at Animal Specialty Center will offer your pet the expertise, medicine, and love that you would expect from a physician. -
Gertie Walks Again
-DONNA VARBARO from PORT CHESTER, NY
Pet Name: GertieDr. Berg, Dr. Lopez, & Dr. Wagner,
We just wanted to take the time to write you all one last message of thanks for helping our beloved Gertie. From the moment we walked through the door that first Saturday night she was treated with compassion, love, and kindness. You have no idea what that means to us considering Gertie is a member of this family and loved so dearly.
Dr. Wager and Julian spent over an hour with us that first night there, they both took the time to thoughtfully and thoroughly answer all of the questions we had, and trust us there were a lot! It was their gentle handling of Gertie and consideration towards all of our concerns that eased our minds and ultimately lead us to the decision that the Animal Specialty Center was where Gertie would remain until she would be able to undergo surgery that following Monday morning. On Monday, Dr. Berg called both before the MRI, before the surgery and after the surgery. His amazing bedside manner really helped to put our entire family at ease and kept our spirits up.
Over the course of the next few days Gertie made another new friend in Dr. Lopez; as with all the other vets before her Dr. Lopez was so kind and patient, not only with Gertie but with us as well. She would call with updates and even shared a few stories about her time with Gertie.
To watch your dog and family member go through such a painful ordeal is beyond heartbreaking. The fun loving, playful little dachshund that we have all grown to love so much went from being active and puppy-like to not being able to walk at all. Then we brought her to you and within days Gertie was walking again and little glimmers of her former self were beginning to shine through. Now it is a full time job just to keep up with her and make sure she stays out of trouble!!
Dr. Berg, Dr. Lopez, & Dr. Wager- you are truly Gertie’s angles and miracle workers. From the bottom of all of our hearts we want to thank you for all that you did for her and us during her stay with you.
Though we hope we do not have to bring Gertie back to your center anytime soon, it is comforting to know that such talented professionals and wonderful people are only a short car ride away.
With our deepest thanks and gratitude,
The Varbaro’s -

Saving her life
-Trish from Dover Plains, NY
Pet Name: BreezyOur dachshund Breezy is 6 years old. All of a sudden she couldn't walk or move her neck. She looked like she was in so much pain it was very upsetting to see. We brought her to ASC on the recommendation of our vet. The staff were so kind and understanding. Dr Thomas and Dr. Birkel saw breezy and said she needed an MRI, it was done and everything was shown to us and explained. It was decided that breezy needed surgery which was done that same night, The team of doctors at ASC saved our baby's life that night. Dr. Thomas and Dr. Birkel called us everyday with an updated progress report. They kept her pain free and answered all of our questions with patience and empathy. Today Breezy is back to her happy and playful self, thanks to the caring and skilled surgical team at ASC. All of the staff there are exceptional. Thank-You Again

Thanks for the time with Lucky
-Natolya and Joseph Moore from Bronx, NY
Pet Name: Lucky MooreMy husband and I are thankful for the extra time that was given to all of us through Lucky's treatment. It was a tough time for us all, but hopefully not so much for him. He was greatly loved by many, including those who knew him at the ASC, and he loved them back. He left us with a smile on his face, and went quickly without pain. We thank the ASC for everything they did.

Saving my dogs life
-Patricia mann nabel from 286 cricket hill rd,, NY
Pet Name: BreexyWe had a very good experience with Dr. Thomas and Dr. Birkel. They were kind to us and emphatic to our baby, although the cost was steep, the skill and expertise were worth it. Our dog Breey suffered a slipped disc in her neck causing extreme pain and possible paryalsis. They fixed her by removing the disc and therefore relieving the pain on her spine. It was a long recovery but thanks to the care and knowledge of the staff as well as their genuine understanding to our family, Breezy is feeling great and back to her old self. We couldn't be more satisfied with the wonderful care our precious girl received, thanks to the ASC a miracle saved our beloved dachshund. Forever grateful, Mrs. Patricia Mann-Nabel

A Million Thanks for a Second Chance
-Neil and Kay Kelly from Williston Park, NY
Pet Name: WinnieWinnie, our 13 year old cocker spaniel, was diagnosed with a probable meningioma on her brainstem which was affecting her ability to eat and drink properly. Without treatment she was given 1 to 2 months to live. Surgery was not an option. Radiation therapy offered our best hope. Normal radiation treatment usually entails 15 sessions over a 3 week period. Our local neurologist and oncologist were kind enough to mention the availability of Cyberknife radiation therapy at ASC. Treatment with Cyberknife would involve only 1 to 3 sessions. Our doctor spoke with Dr. Joseph who said Winnie appeared be a good candidate for Cyberknife. We made an appointment for a consultation with Dr. Joseph on a Friday. All preliminary tests were done that day and it was determined that Winnie would only need one session. The Cyberknife treatment was performed the following Wednesday. Winnie went in at 8:00 am and we were home by 1:00 pm. Winnie tolerated the procedure beautifully and there were no after effects. It has been 3 weeks and Winnie continues to thrive. We have high hopes that her treatment will be a success.
We want to thank Dr. Joseph and everyone at ASC (especially Emily and Regina) for their kindness and compassion. ASC is a remarkable facility staffed by incredible people.
