  • ASC saved Finnegan's life...

    -Christina Zacharia from Scarsdale, NY
    Pet Name: Finnegan

Pet Image Finnegan, my Jack Russell Terrier, was severely injured in a car accident. He had a broken pelvis, internal injuries as well as muscle damage. Dr. Richard Joseph (an amazing neurologist that treated another dog of mine), Dr. Rousseau, Dr. Hearon, and Dr. Bonczynski, among others, all saved his life. He was in intensive care and was cared for like one of their children. Finnegan had to learn to walk again and did so with Physical Therapist, Linda McMahon, in the hospital's state-of-the-art swim tank. Eight months later, Finnegan is running and jumping as he had done before the accident. Finnegan and his family feel fortunate to have the Animal Specialty Center nearby. It is truly top notch!!

  • A million thanks

-James and Linda Westerfield from Pine Bush, NY
    Pet Name: McAllister

Last January our 6 yr Basset hound McAllister became desperately ill. We rushed him to Flannerys in Newburgh NY for testing, the awesome, caring and thorough Dr.Winter recommended that we get him to Animal Specialty Center as quickly as possible.

The staff and Dr. Berg & Dr. Birkel at ASC were nothing short of wonderful!

McAllister was diagnosed with immune mediated encephalitis. With dedicated care and support, eight months later McAllister is once again a joyful, loving, healthy, outrageous little guy. A million thanks for all the expertise, caring, patience and support.

    You saved our dogs life.

  • Very caring and informative

    -Jenna A. from Yonkers, NY
Pet Name: Six year old Shih Tzu

I had to take my 6 yr old Shih Tzu this past weekend.. he had a horrible reaction to his vaccinations. I was so scared for him, he was having some trouble breathing, was throwing up, and his face got so swollen - my poor baby. They took care of us right away. We had Dr. Joyce Wagner and she was very caring and informative - helped me relax. She kept a watch on him to make sure his emergency shots of Benadryl and steroids were working and typed out everything she discussed with us with detailed instructions. Maybe a lot of vets do that, but I was glad because always after I leave, I ask my husband - what did they say again?? Wish she was a regular vet too and not just an emergency one.. need to get her referral on a regular vet when I go back..

  • Specialists I choose for my patients and my own pets

-Brian J. Green, DVM from Sleepy Hollow, NY

I have been a veterinarian for over 30 years, and in that time there have been countless cases that went far enough beyond my own expertise that I felt a specialist in one discipline or another would be beneficial to my patient. Until recently, it was very difficult to find that expertise all under one roof without driving significant distances. The Animal Specialty Center in Yonkers has satisfied that need in stellar fashion.

While services at other facilities have been available to me, problems with communication, fees, or lack of insightful diagnostic approach leading to appropriate answers in a timely fashion led to significant frustration on the part of my clientele, and by extension, me. When Drs. Joseph and Berg assembled a team which included many people to whom I had referred cases years earlier at a New York City facility, I was thrilled to be able to keep my patients local, but under the care of the specialists I would choose for my patients, and have for my own pets! There can be no greater recommendation than that.

  • Saving her life

    -Trish from Dover Plains, NY
    Pet Name: Breezy

Our dachshund Breezy is 6 years old. All of a sudden she couldn't walk or move her neck. She looked like she was in so much pain it was very upsetting to see. We brought her to ASC on the recommendation of our vet. The staff were so kind and understanding. Dr Thomas and Dr. Birkel saw breezy and said she needed an MRI, it was done and everything was shown to us and explained. It was decided that breezy needed surgery which was done that same night, The team of doctors at ASC saved our baby's life that night. Dr. Thomas and Dr. Birkel called us everyday with an updated progress report. They kept her pain free and answered all of our questions with patience and empathy. Today Breezy is back to her happy and playful self, thanks to the caring and skilled surgical team at ASC. All of the staff there are exceptional. Thank-You Again

  • Thanks for the time with Lucky

-Natolya and Joseph Moore from Bronx, NY
    Pet Name: Lucky Moore

My husband and I are thankful for the extra time that was given to all of us through Lucky's treatment. It was a tough time for us all, but hopefully not so much for him. He was greatly loved by many, including those who knew him at the ASC, and he loved them back. He left us with a smile on his face, and went quickly without pain. We thank the ASC for everything they did.

  • Saving my dogs life

-Patricia mann nabel from 286 cricket hill rd,, NY
    Pet Name: Breexy

We had a very good experience with Dr. Thomas and Dr. Birkel. They were kind to us and emphatic to our baby, although the cost was steep, the skill and expertise were worth it. Our dog Breey suffered a slipped disc in her neck causing extreme pain and possible paryalsis. They fixed her by removing the disc and therefore relieving the pain on her spine. It was a long recovery but thanks to the care and knowledge of the staff as well as their genuine understanding to our family, Breezy is feeling great and back to her old self. We couldn't be more satisfied with the wonderful care our precious girl received, thanks to the ASC a miracle saved our beloved dachshund. Forever grateful, Mrs. Patricia Mann-Nabel

  • A Million Thanks for a Second Chance

-Neil and Kay Kelly from Williston Park, NY
    Pet Name: Winnie

Winnie, our 13 year old cocker spaniel, was diagnosed with a probable meningioma on her brainstem which was affecting her ability to eat and drink properly. Without treatment she was given 1 to 2 months to live. Surgery was not an option. Radiation therapy offered our best hope. Normal radiation treatment usually entails 15 sessions over a 3 week period. Our local neurologist and oncologist were kind enough to mention the availability of Cyberknife radiation therapy at ASC. Treatment with Cyberknife would involve only 1 to 3 sessions. Our doctor spoke with Dr. Joseph who said Winnie appeared be a good candidate for Cyberknife. We made an appointment for a consultation with Dr. Joseph on a Friday. All preliminary tests were done that day and it was determined that Winnie would only need one session. The Cyberknife treatment was performed the following Wednesday. Winnie went in at 8:00 am and we were home by 1:00 pm. Winnie tolerated the procedure beautifully and there were no after effects. It has been 3 weeks and Winnie continues to thrive. We have high hopes that her treatment will be a success.
We want to thank Dr. Joseph and everyone at ASC (especially Emily and Regina) for their kindness and compassion. ASC is a remarkable facility staffed by incredible people.

  • Our dog's surgery

-Eda and Bernie Klinger from WHITE PLAINS, NY

Rufus, our 5-year-old dachshund-cocker mix, had a ruptured cervical disk, which we tried to treat with medications from our vet for 6 months. From the moment we brought Rufus in to ASC for an evaluation, we felt that he was in the best of hands. Everyone on the staff was attentive, extremely competent, and pleasant. The surgery went very well, and we were pleased that Dr. Joseph called us after the surgery, and then each day after, to inform us of his recuperation. We would have no hesitations in recommending ASC for anybody's pet.
