ASC saved Finnegan's life...

Finnegan, my Jack Russell Terrier, was severely injured in a car accident. He had a broken pelvis, internal injuries as well as muscle damage. Dr. Richard Joseph (an amazing neurologist that treated another dog of mine), Dr. Rousseau, Dr. Hearon, and Dr. Bonczynski, among others, all saved his life. He was in intensive care and was cared for like one of their children. Finnegan had to learn to walk again and did so with Physical Therapist, Linda McMahon, in the hospital's state-of-the-art swim tank. Eight months later, Finnegan is running and jumping as he had done before the accident. Finnegan and his family feel fortunate to have the Animal Specialty Center nearby. It is truly top notch!! -

Pet Name: McAllisterLast January our 6 yr Basset hound McAllister became desperately ill. We rushed him to Flannerys in Newburgh NY for testing, the awesome, caring and thorough Dr.Winter recommended that we get him to Animal Specialty Center as quickly as possible.
The staff and Dr. Berg & Dr. Birkel at ASC were nothing short of wonderful!
McAllister was diagnosed with immune mediated encephalitis. With dedicated care and support, eight months later McAllister is once again a joyful, loving, healthy, outrageous little guy. A million thanks for all the expertise, caring, patience and support.

Pet Name: Six year old Shih TzuI had to take my 6 yr old Shih Tzu this past weekend.. he had a horrible reaction to his vaccinations. I was so scared for him, he was having some trouble breathing, was throwing up, and his face got so swollen - my poor baby. They took care of us right away. We had Dr. Joyce Wagner and she was very caring and informative - helped me relax. She kept a watch on him to make sure his emergency shots of Benadryl and steroids were working and typed out everything she discussed with us with detailed instructions. Maybe a lot of vets do that, but I was glad because always after I leave, I ask my husband - what did they say again?? Wish she was a regular vet too and not just an emergency one.. need to get her referral on a regular vet when I go back..

Specialists I choose for my patients and my own pets

Until recently, it was very difficult to find that expertise all under one roof without driving significant distances. The Animal Specialty Center in Yonkers has satisfied that need in stellar fashion.
While services at other facilities have been available to me, problems with communication, fees, or lack of insightful diagnostic approach leading to appropriate answers in a timely fashion led to significant frustration on the part of my clientele, and by extension, me. When Drs. Joseph and Berg assembled a team which included many people to whom I had referred cases years earlier at a New York City facility, I was thrilled to be able to keep my patients local, but under the care of the specialists I would choose for my patients, and have for my own pets! There can be no greater recommendation than that.

Toby is on his way to being himself again

The medication you gave Toby to make him feel better worked right away. The operation went smoothly and now Toby is on his way to his old self again. I would like to say that everyone at the center made us feel like we were at home. We received updates every day on Toby’s status. When we visited him at your center, we were treated with great care and thoughtfulness. I saw how your center care about the animals you treat. Pet Name: Softie and SmooshieI had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Jeanne Budgin in April 2009. My cat Softie had been suffering for many months with a skin condition that my vets were unable to remedy and actually had wrongly diagnosed. I was feeling helpless and did not know where else to turn. I did some internet research and learned of this most special dermatologist and the facility she worked at.
From the first moment I walked into the Animal Specialty Center with my cat, the staff greeted me with a warm and friendly hello. I started to feel comfortable.
When I met Dr. Jeanne Budgin, it was an instant like. She had me at hello. Her professionalism, demeanor, intelligence and calm reassuring ways were "just what the doctor ordered". She handled my cat with care, examined her in detail and was precise in her visual evaluation. The questions I was asked and the information I was given made for an incredible combination. Dr. Budgin immediately knew what was wrong with Softie, diagnosed her condition and went into full treatment mode.
I had to bring my other cat Smooshie in as well for she also suffered with this condition. Again, Dr. Budgin and her assistant gave us VIP treatment and treated my cat like a rare jewel.
Dr. Budgin methodically explained to me what the next few months would be like in regards to the medical care of my 2 cats. She assured me that my cats would be better but it would take time. I followed every thing she told me to do. I medicated my 2 cats, took the necessary precautions and trusted every word she said. Every single word. Never once did anyone ever steer me wrong.
During the many months of constant care, Dr. Budgin made herself available to me, helped me, answered my questions and never compromised the medical care of my 2 cats. My frequent follow up office visits continued to be smiling and joyful experiences. My cats have healed and are their fluffy, beautiful and healthy selves once again!
When I now look at my cats, I am forever reminded of the loving and brilliant care they received from Animal Specialty Center, Kathryn and Dr. Jeanne Budgin. The wonderful experience we had is forever etched in my mind.
The staff is friendly and accommodating. They smile, adore the animals, and welcome you. The facility is clean and they do everything they can to make the experience a happy one. Kathryn is sweet, knowledgable and efficient.
Dr. Budgin is a true hero. She gave my 2 cats Smooshie and Softie new lives, helping them (and I) through a most trying time, and accomplishing what other vets could not do....curing them and freeing them of their ailments. I have met an angel with Dr. Budgin.
I still bring my cats to see Dr. Budgin. It is now 4 years later and we continue to be greeted with hugs and laughter. The bond I share with Animal Specialty Center, Kathryn and especially dear Dr. Budgin will always remain. I am blessed to have brought my cats to such an amazing facility. Smooshie, Softie and I are eternally grateful. :) -
Max is Back

Four weeks ago our Weimaraner Max was quite suddenly unable to walk, or even stand. Following the recommendation of our local vet at Yorktown Animal Hospital, we brought Max to see Dr. Joseph at ASC. He knew immediately what to do and gave Max the tests, medications and comfort care he needed prior to undergoing surgery the next day on the bulging disks in his neck. The expertise and care delivered by Dr. Joseph, Dr. Berg and their team of assisting doctors and vet techs has happily resulted in Max's successful recovery. He is walking around today with a new confidence in his step, saying "thank you, thank you" with his eyes. This group of professionals is there 100% for your animal,and keep you informed every step of the way. We hope we'll never need emergency care for any of our three Weimaraners again, but if we do, we will not hesitate to put their care in the hands of the staff at Animal Specialty Center.
