Biography

Dr. Halise Diamond, a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Radiology, comes to us from the University of Georgia, College of Veterinary Medicine, where she completed a three-year residency in veterinary radiology. Dr. Diamond joins Dr. Dennis Keith, Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Radiology, in the Department of Radiology. Their advanced training provides general practice vets an opportunity to expand the scope of care and services available to their clients' pets.

Dr. Diamond's services include performing and interpreting exams in the following areas: general radiology, fluoroscopy, myelography, special procedures, computed tomography, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, i-131 treatment, and magnetic resonance imaging.

Prior to her residency, Dr. Diamond completed a one-year internship in small animal medicine and surgery at VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital in 2001. She participated in clinical rotations that included internal medicine, surgery, daytime receiving, overnight, and specialty rotations (ophthalmology, radiology, oncology, dermatology, and cardiology), as well as weekly didactic lectures, morbidity and mortality rounds, journal club and clinical pathology conferences. Dr. Diamond received a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine, graduating magna cum laude, from Colorado State University, College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in 2000, following a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Environmental Studies, graduating cum laude from Tufts University in 1996.

The recipient of numerous scholarships, Dr. Diamond was recognized early as one who excels in her field. She is accomplished in teaching, research and publishing on various modalities of diagnostic imaging. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Radiological Society of North America and the Arizona Veterinary Medical Association.

We have emergency doctors and staff available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (including holidays) to help you.

Common conditions we see on an emergency basis include (but are not limited to) vomiting and diarrhea, congestive heart failure, kidney failure, canine parvoviral enteritis (Parvo), complications from diabetes, pancreatitis, pneumonia, hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver disease), anemia, coagulopathies (like Rat Bait Poisoning), intervertebral disk disease/paralysis, rattlesnake envenomation, heat stroke, urinary obstruction, toxicities, and various types of trauma.

We are located on the West side of Country Club between Brown and McKellips, 1 mile south of the Red Mountain Loop 202.

VCA Animal Referral and Emergency Center of Arizona (VCA ARECA) opened in July 2004.  We are a state-of-the-art referral veterinary hospital supported by an in-house emergency veterinary hospital that is always open.  Our specialty veterinarians are board certified in Diagnostic Imaging (Radiology), Surgery, and Internal Medicine.
