Dr. Christopher Monarski completed his surgical residency in Arizona at VCA ARECA, and has been helping to advance veterinary medicine in our community through his residency-related teaching and research projects. However, his unique qualifications also include 2 years as an associate vet and 1 year as a responsible veterinarian at general practices prior to seeking advanced training. His previous work experience gives him an excellent perspective when dealing with clients. His primary research interest is currently in pain management of orthopedic patients, clearly demonstrating his commitment to his patients.

He has special interest in minimally invasive procedures such as arthroscopy, tracheal and urethral stenting and laparoscopy. Dr. Monarski is a 2001 graduate of Texas A&M University, College of Veterinary Medicine. He also completed a small animal surgical internship at VCA ARECA. He enjoys all aspects of orthopedics and soft tissue surgery and is committed to high quality, compassionate medicine in combination with proactive client education.

2015 Dr. Monarski passed the National Boards to become a Diplomate,  American College of Veterinary Surgeons - Small Animal

We have emergency doctors and staff available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (including holidays) to help you.

Common conditions we see on an emergency basis include (but are not limited to) vomiting and diarrhea, congestive heart failure, kidney failure, canine parvoviral enteritis (Parvo), complications from diabetes, pancreatitis, pneumonia, hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver disease), anemia, coagulopathies (like Rat Bait Poisoning), intervertebral disk disease/paralysis, rattlesnake envenomation, heat stroke, urinary obstruction, toxicities, and various types of trauma.

We are located on the West side of Country Club between Brown and McKellips, 1 mile south of the Red Mountain Loop 202.

VCA Animal Referral and Emergency Center of Arizona (VCA ARECA) opened in July 2004.  We are a state-of-the-art referral veterinary hospital supported by an in-house emergency veterinary hospital that is always open.  Our specialty veterinarians are board certified in Diagnostic Imaging (Radiology), Surgery, and Internal Medicine.
