    Donetta has worked in the veterinary field since 2001 and joined our team in 2008. She studied Business Administration at Mayland Community College in Spruce Pine, North Carolina, and had a career in human medicine for over twenty-five years. She graduated from Veterinary Tech Institute in 2012 with an Associates degree in Applied Science. Upon passing her VTNE examination, she became a Licensed Veterinary Technician. Donetta enjoys working in emergency care and finds great satisfaction in making a difference in the lives of our patients. She also finds that comforting distraught or grieving clients is additionally rewarding, and an important aspect of her duties. She says that our excellent staff of doctors, technicians, receptionists and management personnel make her look forward to coming to work. She lives with her husband Ben, and a house full of fur babies. Donetta has a special interest in cats and enjoys studying feline behavior and medicine. Her hobbies include cross-stitch, reading, cat cuddling and playing with the grandkids.

    Stacey began her veterinary career in 2008 and attended Vet Tech Institution for veterinary technology where she obtained her RVT and A.A.S. in veterinary technology. She also attended the University of Houston where she obtained a B.A. of Interpersonal communications. Some areas of her job that she really enjoys would include radiology and surgery, but she really enjoys all aspects of the veterinary field. Stacey and her husband have two dogs and one cat (Princess, Chevelle and Sharkbait.) In their free time they enjoy being outdoors, fishing, camping and spending time at the park with their dogs. Stacey appreciates how rewarding it is to work for an organization that cares for their clients as well as their employees. As of February 2014 Stacey completed and passed with the Texas Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners and is now a Licensed Veterinary Technician.

    Heather began her veterinary career in 1995 in La Porte, Texas. Heather attended San Jacinto Community College and World School of Massage and Bodywork and received her license as a Massage Therapist. She became an emergency technician in 2005. Heather's interest is in surgery and she would like to pursue Physical Therapy for pets. In her spare time, Heather enjoys spending quality time with her husband, son, 3 cats and 4 dogs. She also enjoys showing her American Pit Bull Terriers as well as competing in obedience and weight pull competitions with them, often traveling long distances for such events.

    School: San Jacinto College

    Susanne has over 30 years of experience in the veterinary field. In 1994 she joined VCA Animal Emergency S.E.  She enjoys being in surgery and taking care of the animals. Susanne resides in Houston with her husband who is also her high school sweetheart. Together she and her husband have 3 sons that are all wonderful and a beautiful daughter in-law. Susanne has a French bulldog named "Lola" and a beagle named "Emma". In October 2015 Susanne was honored with a plaque for 21 years of service!!

    School: Houston Community College

    Cindy began working in the veterinary field in 1998 at a hospital in Alvin. She joined the emergency hospital in 2000. Cindy attended Houston Community College. Cindy and her husband have 2 sons, 3 dogs and many cats and chickens. In October of 2015 Cindy was honored for 15 years of service in emergency medicine!!

    Darlene M.

    Darlene began her veterinary career in 1986 at a hospital in Alvin where she started as a technician and then advanced to hospital manager. In 2000 she joined Animal Emergency Hospital as the overnight technician. Darlene is the lead technician trainer. She holds several certificates in Dentistry, Nutrition, Laboratory, Pharmacology and other miscellaneous subjects. Darlene has received 2 VCA Recognition Awards. She has 2 Grandsons, along with her cats, tortoise named "Kizzy" and 2 dogs. Darlene's specialty is handling aggressive animals (we call her the cat/dog whisperer). She also enjoys assisting in the birthing process. In October of 2015 Darlene was honored for her 15 years in emergency medicine!

    Marie began her veterinary career in 2000.  She has been specially trained to work along side with our team of Doctors specializing in critical care. Marie especially enjoys task, such as x-rays and assisting in surgery. She currently has 2 dogs, (Jessie) her Jack Russell Terrier and (Jade) a Cocker/Dach. mix.  In October 2015 Marie was honored for 10 years of service in emergency medicine!!

    Charlotte O.
    School: Texas A & M University, Bachelor of Science

    Charlotte began her veterinary career in 2001. She graduated from Texas A&M with a B.S. in Biomedical Science. Charlotte shows a special interest in parasitology and laboratory work. She especially enjoys reading, riding her bike and spending time with her cattle dog, "She - Ra," and her terrier mix puppy, "Kiwi." She is pursuing a master's degree in Public Health at the UT Health Science Center. The exciting surgeries at the hospital captivate Charlotte's attention and she enjoys sending home happy clients and pets.

    Veterinary Tech School: Vet Tech Institute of Houston

    Amanda joined our team to work part time in October 2013. Her special interests include surgery and blood draws. Amanda found her passion for animals at the age of 8, when her step dad bought her first Show Cow. She enjoyed being in 4-H throughout elementary and junior high where she raised cattle and helped the younger students with their projects. In 2008, Amanda joined Manvel FFA where she began to participate in leadership conferences and became a chapter officer. She graduated from the Vet Tech Institute of Houston in 2013 with a degree in Associates of Applied in Veterinary Technology. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her niece.

    Jerry has been in the animal field several years, including zoo work and Police K9 training. He began his veterinary career here at the emergency hospital in 2008. Jerry has a BS Degree in Animal Science from Purdue University. He has 2 grandchildren, 1 dog and 2 cats.

    Veterinary Tech School: PIMA Medical Institute

    Azalea graduated from PIMA Medical Institute with an Associate of Applied Science degree. Her next goal is to take on line classes to get her Bachelor of Applied Science. Azalea has 3 dogs, 1 cat and a ball python. She would love to have more, but with school and work her hands are pretty full.

Emergency Care

In case of emergency, please come to our hospital or call us immediately. We are at 10331 Gulf Freeway Houston, TX 77034. Our phone number is 713-941-8460. We are open weeknights from 6pm - 8am and 24 hours on weekends and holidays. We are located on the north-bound (east) side of I-45, just past the Edgebrook exit.

North-Bound - Take the Edgebrook exit, stay on the feeder road. Go through the light and we are on the right just past the mexican food restaurant.

South-Bound - Take the Edgebrook exit. U-Turn lane under the freeway, which will put you on the north-bound feeder. We are past the mexican food restaurant on the right hand side.


  1. Remain Calm... You are doing the best for your pet by taking steps to help.
  2. Call Your Family Veterinarian first...If they are unavailable, come on in or call us!
  3. Tell Us The Nature Of The Problem...We will give you instructions on how to handle your pet while en-route and give you directions to the hospital.
  4. Be Careful... When injured and scared, even a loving pet may bite. If in doubt, gently place a towel or blanket over the head making sure to provide good air circulation for breathing. This will help settle the animal.
