  • Registered Veterinary Technician

    Laura Stults, AAT RVT
    Veterinary Tech School: Gwinnett Technical College, Associates of Applied Technology in Veterinary Technology

    Laura graduated from Gwinnett Technical College in 2008 with her Associates degree in Veterinary Technology. She completed her internship at VCA Animal Emergency Center of Gwinnett and officially joined their team after graduation.

    Laura has two cats and one dog.  She has a special interest in emergency and critical care.


  • Licensed Veterinary Technician

    Darlene Furness, AAT LVT
    Veterinary Tech School: University of New York at Delhi

    Darlene is a graduate of the Veterinary Technology Program at the State University of New York at Delhi. She has been active in the veterinary field since 1989. Darlene spent her first eight years of practice in New York State. She moved to Georgia and joined VCA Animal Emergency Center of Gwinnett in 2001.

    Darlene is married and has two children, Morgan and Matthew. She currently has two dogs, two cats, two gerbils, and many fish.


  • Veterinary Assistant

    Amanda Coker

    Amanda joined the VCA Animal Emergency Center of Gwinnett team in 2005.  Though she took a few years off in 2008 to attend school, she has returned!  Amanda is happy to be back at VCA Animal Emergency Center of Gwinnett doing a job she is passionate about alongside a team she loves.  Amanda finds being at an emergency hospital gratifying as she gets to witness patients recover from major illnesses and injuries.

    When not busy saving lives at VCA Animal Emergency Center of Gwinnett, Amanda is in school pursuing her degree in Pure Mathematics.  She will graduate next year with her bachelors degree and plans to go on to graduate school.  Amanda has been known to rehabilitate squirrels and ride horses.  Amanda's family includes dogs, cats, and a horse.


  • Veterinary Assistant

    Bryan Jenkins

    Bryan began working in veterinary medicine in 2002 and joined the VCA Animal Emergency Center of Gwinnett family in April of 2010.  Bryan says that he gets a good feeling when he is able to help sick animals. He loves seeing them leave healthy and happy.

    In his spare time, Bryan enjoys reading, writing, painting, and cooking.

    Brian has six cats, two dogs, a ferret, and a Bearded Dragon.


  • Veterinary Assistant

    Randy Smith
    School: University of Tennessee, B.S. in Animal Science

    Randy received a B.S. in Animal Science from the University of Tennessee.  After an extended career in retail management, he began working in veterinary technology in 2003 in Asheville, N.C.  Also at this time, Randy began working on a veterinary technology degree at Asheville-Buncombe Technical College.  Randy continued working in this field in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.  He hopes to complete his veterinary technology degree at Gwinnett Technical College.  Randy joined the VCA Animal Emergency Center of Gwinnett family in 2011 and heads up the hospital's client service committee!

    In his spare time, Randy enjoys hiking with his two dogs, caring for his one cat, and assisting friends at showing American Saddlebred horses.


  • Veterinary Assistant

    Chelsey West
    School: University of Georgia, Bachelor's in Social Work

    Though Chelsey joined VCA Animal Emergency Center of Gwinnett's team in August of 2011, she is no stranger to the veterinary profession.  In fact, she has nearly ten years of experience as a veterinary assistant!  Chelsey was born and raised in Lawrenceville and holds a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from the University of Georgia. 

    When Chelsey is not busy helping to save lives, she enjoys being a new mommy to her baby boy, Cannon Patrick, her cat, Cryp, reading anything she can get her hands on, and spending as much time in the water as possible, preferably at Lake Hartwell or the Gulf of Mexico.

Hours of Operation: Monday through Friday 6pm-8am and Saturday at noon through Monday 8am. We are open 24 hours on every holiday.

In case of an emergency...

  1. Remain calm... You are doing the best for your pet by taking steps to help.
  2. Call your family veterinarian first...If they are unavailable, call us!
  3. Tell us the nature of the problem... We will give you instructions on how to handle your pet while in route as we give you directions to the hospital.
  4. Be careful...When injured and scared, even a loving pet may bite. If in doubt, gently place a towel or blanket over your pet's head while ensuring good air circulation for breathing. This will help settle your pet.
