Dr. Heidi New - Internal Medicine

Biography

Before joining the family y at VCA All Care Animal Referral Center as our newest Internal Medicine doctor, Dr. New graduated from CSU, Sacramento with a BS in molecular biology and a minor in chemistry.  Dr. New went on to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Western University of Health Sciences in 2007.  She then joined VCA Veterinary Care Animal Hospital and Referral center, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she completed a yearlong internship.    Dr. New continued her education and completed a 3-year Internal Medicine residency at VCA Veterinary Referral Associates in Gaithersburg, Maryland.  Her areas of expertise include hepatic diseases, renal diseases and immune mediated diseases.  She is a member of the ACVIM and has recently published an article on pulmonary thromboembolism.

As an avid outdoors-woman and marathon runner, Dr. New enjoys hiking, snowboarding and camping, as well as spending time with her two kitties, Rocky and Gabbie.
