Matt attended the University of Virginia where he received a Bachelors of Science in 1979. He then received a Masters of Science at Purdue University in 1982. Matthew worked as a kennel technician at the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA in Virginia from 1987 to 1994. He moved to Colorado to attend the Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology where he received an Associates degree in Animal Science in 1996. Upon graduating he was hired as the Kennel Supervisor at Alameda East Veterinary Hospital and has worked in this capacity for fifteen years. Matt is also responsible for ordering pet food for the hospital and in 2010 he achieved the title of Veterinary Nutritional Consultant by Hill's Pet Nutrition. Matt also helps oversee kennel operations at the Animal Lodge.
Matt is married to Sandra, and they have three sons: Christopher, Sean, and Eric. They enjoy their two cats, swimming, bread making, bicycling, and gardening.
