VCA Alameda East Veterinary Hospital

Jean Wilbert, CVT, Certified Veterinary Technician

Departments: Internal Medicine

After attending Mesa State College in her hometown of Grand Junction, Colorado and then the University of Colorado in Boulder, Jean graduated from the Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology in 1997 with top honors. Soon after she was offered a position at one of the premier veterinary hospitals in Colorado, Alameda East, where she spent over 2 years developing her technical and personal skills working as one of Alameda's top emergency room technicians. Since 1999 she has been working in the Internal Medicine Department with internist Dr. Doug Santen. Around the hospital Jean is known as the cat whisperer as she has the ability to develop an easy accord with the saucier kitties.

During her time away from Alameda East Jean enjoys spending time with her family and her cats Marmalade, Leon, Seraphin, Tips, and Puck. It was the love for and from her first pet, Puck, that inspired her to enter the field of veterinary care. However, she will also never forget the love of those that have already crossed the Rainbow Bridge: Buddy, B, and Fischer.

A Colorado native, Jean naturally loves the outdoors. This love finds her taking advantage of everything her "backyard" has to offer, especially hiking, camping and rafting. She also loves traveling and talking to others about the various places they have been.
